Road Safety: Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Today we had the chance to go driving for the first time at Maynooth Lensteir Driving Campus. Our class went with our teacher by coach bus. We were split into groups of three and four. Half of us got to start the day by driving, the other half got to practise their theory in a quiz. My group started off by doing a quiz on theory. We had to answer 40 theory questions and if we got 40 right on the first try we would get a free driving lesson, unfortunately we weren't successful, however the guy doing it with us said he would give us all another shot at trying to get all 40 right. This time he absolutely trolled us! While he was writing up my teams score he wrote a number 4 first so immediately we all jumped up cheering thinking we had won the free lesson, he then wrote a number 3 in front of the 4...34. We were absolutely devastated, i've never been played so hard in my life. Still recovering to be honest. Nobody else managed to get all 40 right anyway.

We then went outside and got to try on beer goggles which basically mess with depth perception to simulate how this might affect driving. It was gas seeing everyone with them on. We had to pick up a cone, walk in a straight line and put that cone on another cone and then hand it to the instructor. It was harder than it looked.

After that we got a change to have our lunch and then finally, without further ado, it was time to go driving. Our instructor was an absolute legend from Limerick, he was hilarious and had one of the culchiest accents i've ever heard. We got 40 minutes each behind the wheel which was great and really gave us confidence. Now i can't wait to drive and I'm going to start studying for my theory test.

It was a good day overall and definitely a bit of craic. Fingers crossed i'll be on the road myself by the time i'm in college!
